About the Greater Baltimore Chamber

The Greater Baltimore Chamber of Commerce is a dynamic 501(c)(6) nonprofit business association dedicated to helping local businesses thrive. Since 1977, we have supported economic growth and community development across Pikesville, Owings Mills, Reisterstown, and Northwest Baltimore. We connect business leaders, provide valuable resources, and advocate for a stronger, more vibrant regional economy.

Our Mission:

To promote business, enhance economic well-being, and foster community development.

Our Vision:

To be the trusted business resource and key driver of economic growth and community prosperity.

What We Do

We offer a wide range of business services to boost visibility, build credibility, and promote long-term success:

  • Strategic Networking: We host frequent networking events that connect local professionals, spark collaboration, and generate referrals.
  • Marketing Support: Members receive affordable marketing opportunities including social media promotion, email features, sponsorships, and our online business directory.
  • Government Access & Advocacy: We advocate for pro-business policies and connect members directly with elected officials and civic leaders.
  • Business Resources & Savings: Members benefit from cost-saving programs on office supplies, utilities, and even international travel.
  • Nonprofit & Community Partnerships: We help businesses align with nonprofit partners and promote local initiatives that revitalize neighborhoods.
  • Young Professional Development: Our Ignite! Young Professionals program offers networking, mentorship, and leadership opportunities for emerging leaders.

We’re proud to share that consumers are 63% more likely to do business with a chamber member, according to research by The Shapiro Group, Inc. Members can showcase their affiliation with official window clings to build consumer trust and credibility.

Advocacy That Makes a Difference

We work at the local, state, and federal levels to ensure our members’ voices are heard. Whether it’s zoning, permits, labor laws, transportation, or taxes, we help members navigate complex regulations and connect them with key decision-makers. As a proud member of both the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, we stay informed and engaged on your behalf.

A Legacy of Growth

Founded in 1977 as the Pikesville Chamber, we began by serving the vibrant Pikesville business community, anchored by a strong commercial district and main street. As neighboring areas grew, businesses in Owings Mills and beyond looked to us for support. In response, we rebranded as the Pikesville Owings Mills Chamber (POM), introducing a new logo and expanding our reach.

During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019-2020, we conducted a strategic review of the Chamber’s membership. Our research showed that over one-third of our members came from outside Pikesville and Owings Mills. While continuing to honor our historic roots in Pikesville, the Board voted in 2021 to adopt a name that better reflected our growing and diverse membership. Our name reflects our broader regional impact.

In September 2021, we officially became the Greater Baltimore Chamber of Commerce, expanding our geographic focus to include Pikesville, Owings Mills, Reisterstown, and Northwest Baltimore.

Our vibrant logo, designed in 2020 by longtime member Heidi Hiller, owner of Innovative Party Planners, symbolizes growth, progress, and a welcoming community for business. The bright colors represent optimism, the upward arrows symbolize progress, and the open building invites business. The barn pays tribute to Owings Mills’ agricultural roots, while the road represents the path to success GBCC helps pave for our members.

Award-Winning Leadership

We are honored to be a six-time first-place winner of the Maryland Small Business Week Administration’s Chamber Challenge Award.
